The TCO 6th Edition Blueprint
The BCBA exam is a fixed budget, and the blueprint is the spending plan. The 6th edition Test Content Outline splits 175 scored items (plus 10 unscored pilot items, 185 in all) across nine content domains, and it publishes the exact share each domain gets. That share does not drift from form to form: the exam spends its points on the same nine domains in the same proportions every time it is built. Read the blueprint once, and you know where the points live before you open a single flashcard.
So study the way the exam scores. Nine domains, four hours, roughly 78 seconds per item on test day — and the number of items behind each domain is your signal for how much prep each one is worth. A five-percent domain earns a fraction of the hours a fourteen-percent domain earns. Below is the full 6th-ed. weighting, then the ranking that tells you where to start.

Where the Weight Sits
Ranked, the plan is blunt. The top four domains — B, G, E and F — are 54% of the scored exam between them. The bottom two, A and D, are 12% combined. If your calendar is tight, that is your triage order: earn the crowded domains first, and treat the light ones as points you top up rather than points you build a week around. Budget the study clock the way you will budget the test clock.

A blueprint is a map, not a schedule. To turn these weights into dated study blocks — what to cover which week, and how to fold the timed mock in — move to the BCBA exam prep plan. The short version: allocate your weeks in the same proportions you see above, run a full timed mock early to find your real weak domains, and re-weight toward whatever the data flags. You are not guessing where to spend effort; the blueprint and your own scores decide it.
How many questions are on the BCBA exam?
The 6th-edition exam has 185 items — 175 scored plus 10 unscored pilot items — delivered as four-option multiple choice over four hours at Pearson VUE. Only the 175 scored items count toward your result.
What are the nine TCO domains and their weights?

Which domains should I study first?
Start with the heaviest that you have not already mastered. B and G are 14% each and share the most vocabulary with the rest of the exam, so they pay off twice. Then layer a diagnostic on top: a mid-weight domain you keep missing can jump the queue ahead of a heavy domain you already own.
